Marilyn Monroe
Visit the iconic Marilyn Monroe statue in the heart of downtown Palm Springs. Marilyn’s influence can still be felt throughout the valley to this day, and visiting the statue is a must! Marilyn’s rise to fame began in 1949 when talent agent Johnny Hyde discovered her in Palm Springs. Some of her most famous photos were taken at the swimming pool of Charlie Farrel’s Racquet Club.
The “Forever Marilyn” statue was built in 2011 and displayed in several locations in the United States and Australia before finally making its way back to Palm Springs in 2012. The sculpture, inspired by an image of Monroe taken from Billy Wilder’s film The Seven Year Itch, stands 26 feet tall and weighs 24,000 lbs. Make sure to grab your camera and snap a few photos with the icon herself!
The statue is located at the intersection of Museum Way and Belardo Road.
